This is a good time to make a couple of announcement about some New and Exciting things coming soon to snugglymonkey.com. {drum roll please}

#1:
Starting this coming Friday, August 5th, I will start featuring a new Etsy shop every other Friday. Along with some of the these features, I will also start doing some fantastic Giveaways sponsored by the talented (and generous!) Etsians to be featured. Please check out the Inside an Etsy Studio page for more information.  Our first featured Etsian will be Lindsay from originallyme, so be sure to come by next Friday to meet her and take a peek into her Etsy world!

#2:
I believe that an important component of any business is making sure to give back to the community that supports your work. Beginning in August,  I will regularly create a special item in my shop to benefit a different charity, cause or organization. 100% of the profits from the sale of that item in the month will be donated to that organization.

A couple of months ago I was contacted by an inspiring woman named Chella to make a couple of custom order Ouchie Pouches for an amazing little boy named Max, who suffers from congenital heart defect.  Max recently celebrated a birthday, and in lieu of gifts, he asked all of his friends and families to sign up as organ donors. Max and Chella's stories has touched my heart, so to begin Snuggly Monkey's Community Giving campaign, I am in the process of creating a special heart themed Ouchie Pouch. All profits from the sale of that Ouchie Pouch in the month of August will be donated to the "It's My Heart" foundation. Please check back next week to learn more about Max, Chella and the Its My Heart foundation in a special post where I will unveil the "It's My Heart" Ouchie Pouch.

Have a wonderful weekend!!

Handmade Gift Exchange Goodies!!

In June, I participated in the Handmade Gift Exchange hosted by Craftaholics Anonymous for the first time, and it was so much fun! I was paired with a wonderfully crafty lady (and fellow Etsian!) in Washington State, Heather from Goldiecar Designs. Heather is an art teacher, a mama and a scrapbooking artist! I am always in awe with folks that can take paper and turn it into these magnificent creations.  I was so excited when I received my package in the mail and then opened it to find this very special scrapbook that Heather made for my two little monkeys!

I love the colors and the lovely little quotes found throughout. I just absolutely love it all! Thank you so much Heather! For more examples of her work, visit Heather's Blog, Goldiecar Designs and her newly re-opened Etsy shop by the same name.

I, of course, forgot to take photos of the items I made for Heather before I shipped them, but she was so kind as to post some pics on her blog. So feel free to pop on over there to check those out.

Want to see some of the other Handmade Gift Exchange participants? Stop by the Linky party being hosted by Craftaholics Anonymous with lots and lots of photos of all the great items that were exchanged. The next exchange will happen in November.

Since I am showing gratitude today, I also wanted to give a BIG thanks to Linda at BeckLee Cottage Designs for writing up a fantastic feature of Lucky Happenstance (Snuggly Monkey's vintage sister shop) this morning. Thank you!!!
