{Featured Artist} Robin from Auntie Robin

Welcome to Featured Fridays on Snuggly Monkey! Each Friday we chat with a different Etsy artist and take a peek inside their Etsy world. This week we are talking with Robin from Auntie Robin.
Robin is a talented seamstress who enjoys sewing for children and sells mostly skirts, baby quilts and doll clothes in her Etsy shop. This past week marked the 1 Year Anniversary of Robin's shop - Congratulations!

How did you come up with your shop name?
I have a big family and have been an aunt all my life.  I’ve always loved sewing for my nieces and nephews, so I thought the name fit!

When did you start sewing?
I learned to sew when I was a little girl.  My mother had 5 daughters and taught us all to sew.  We started with doll clothes and went on to making our own clothes.  I started quilting later on when my own daughters were little.

What is your favorite item to create?
I love combining different fabrics in each creation.  It’s so much fun to choose the fabrics and trims.  My favorite thing is to sew up a little skirt based on a storybook character or a theme.

What do you like about being a part of the Etsy community?
Everyone on etsy is so nice!  The other sellers are really kind and helpful.  I can always find great things to buy, too!

What aspects of your Etsy business do you find challenging?

My biggest challenge is finding the time to make all the things I want to make!

How do you advertise or promote your shop?
Promoting my shop is a bit of a challenge for me also.  It took me a while to get into this.  I have joined several teams and recommend that to anyone new to etsy.  Team members are so encouraging and helpful.  It really helps to participate in challenges and any other opportunity to get your shop’s name out there.  Plus it’s a lot of fun!  I really love doing giveaways also.  Treasuries are fun, too!

As a fan of Inside the Actor's Studio with James Lipton, I've always enjoyed his final 10 questions that he asks all his guests. So, inspired by the questionaries of Mr. Lipton, Bernard Pivo (Lipton's inspiration) and Marcel Proust here are a few final questions for Robin..

What is your favorite word?
peace
What is your least favorite word?  impossible
What sound or noise do you love?  Music and laughter
What sound or noise do you hate?  Sports on TV
If you were reincarnated as some other plant or animal, what would it be?  A very spoiled dog.
Who are your favorite fictional heroes/heroines? Ann Marie from That Girl, Nancy Drew, Sarah Crewe, and many more from old books and movies!
Who are your favorite heroines/heros in real life?  Laura Ingalls Wilder, Tasha Tudor
What natural gift would you most like to possess?  Musical talent in singing and playing the piano.  I can’t carry a tune!
What would you like to be when you grow up?  The best me I can be!
What makes you smile?  My daughters, children, music, movies, books, and fabric!!

Thank you so much Robin for giving us a peek into your shop world today! Be sure to keep in touch with Robin by stopping by her shop.
